Dana is a dedicated advocate and a true embodiment of resilience. A proud mother of two adult children and two grandchildren, she balances her family life with her roles as a small business owner and Peer Mentor Coordinator for the United Spinal Association of Georgia. She is also an active member of the Gwinnett Entrepreneur Center and Building Resilient Entrepreneurs, showcasing her commitment to both personal and professional growth.
Dana’s dedication to supporting others stems from her own experiences. Diagnosed with a multitude of chronic autoimmune diseases in her early twenties, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Sjogren’s Syndrome, Degenerative Disc Disease, and Degenerative Joint Disease, she faces daily chronic pain with unwavering strength and faith. These conditions have led to spinal degeneration, resulting in a spinal cord injury and further mobility challenges.
Despite these obstacles, Dana remains a beacon of hope for others. She helps and advocates for individuals across Georgia and the United States who have experienced trauma or significant life stressors due to spinal cord injuries and other disabilities. Her empathy and understanding are deeply rooted in her personal journey.
Dana’s commitment to lifelong learning is evident in her pursuit of higher education. She holds two Associate Degrees in Applied Sciences, Entrepreneurship, and General Studies, along with various health-related certifications. In early January 2025, she will embark on a path to obtain a dual master’s and doctoral degree in Behavioral and Social Science. Dana is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, honoring her academic achievements.
Her accolades include the Mother Caregiver of the Year Award for Allegheny County in 2012, a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family and community. Dana’s story is an inspiration to all, demonstrating the power of perseverance, compassion, and the human spirit.
