Edward Smith is a dedicated advocate for gun violence prevention and intervention in Georgia. He works closely with major institutions like Grady Hospital, Emory Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), and the Atlanta Mayor’s Office to promote safety and support for victims of violence.
As Vice President of United Spinal of Georgia, Edward channels his personal experience with a T-10 spinal cord injury into impactful advocacy, ensuring that others with disabilities receive the care and opportunities they need. His nonprofit, Paralyzed From Violence, provides resources and raises awareness about the effects of violence, particularly for those who have suffered life-altering injuries like his.
In addition to his work in violence prevention, Edward serves on the City of Atlanta’s board for ADA compliance, ensuring that the city remains accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities. A full-time student at Georgia State University, pursuing degrees in Social Work and Social Entrepreneurship to further enhance his ability to create meaningful social change.
