Disasters, whether hurricanes, severe storms, or floods, disproportionately affect people with disabilities. They often create sudden, critical barriers to safety, mobility, and independence.

The United Spinal Association of Georgia is proud to participate in United Spinal’s Ready to Roll Program, a national initiative providing disaster preparedness education and relief assistance for individuals living with mobility disabilities, including spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D). Our goal is to ensure that no Georgian with a disability is left behind during or after an emergency.

If you are a person with a spinal cord injury or mobility disability who has been affected by a natural disaster in 2026, financial assistance grants are available to help you recover, regain stability, and maintain your health.

These grants act as a vital safety net to help cover essential emergency-related needs, including:

• Mobility & Medical Equipment: Repairing or replacing wheelchairs, lifts, and other essential durable medical equipment (DME) lost or damaged in a crisis.
• Home Damage: Assisting with emergency issues related to home accessibility and safety.
• Accessible Transportation: Helping with emergency transit or modified vehicle needs.
• Critical Medical Supplies: Replacing life-sustaining daily healthcare items.
